The Tiny Canal Cottage® is a 1920's Craftsman-style house by the Venice Beach Canals in Southern California. This <400 sqft home/office is the full-time residence of Creative Director Whitney Leigh Morris, her husband, their son, and two rescue beagles.

My form of therapy. 🛶🐶

#ad🌱 Having a garden is not something I take for granted. With the exception of my childhood home, this cottage is the first place I’ve ever lived that has its own lil’ patch of earth. But every week, I receive messages from readers who express their frustration about not having a yard of their own in which to grow leafy greens. For that exact reason, we decided to try the @miraclegro Twelve Indoor Growing System here in our tiny house and share our experience with you. 🌿 We stacked 2 systems together by using the stacking kit and can now grow 8 batches of herbs and leafy greens from seedlings right here inside the house, all within just a 16.5” x 16.5” footprint. We documented the process— from start to finish— for those of you who are curious about ways in which to grow an edible garden in small interiors year-round. The full post is on the blog! 🏡 Through the end of September, 1% of proceeds of the Miracle-Gro Twelve Indoor Growing Systems sold will be donated to No Kid Hungry to contribute to the goal of ending childhood hunger through programs that provide kids with the food they need, such as school breakfast, and after school meals.🌿 #EasyGrowing

I’ve been wanting to change the color of this built-in bed/bookshelf for 8 years and still haven’t even gotten around to researching it. 🧐 But the color-coordination between it and the pups is 💯✨.

Little sights that bring me joy. 👆 An old bussing tray left over from our home wedding, now being employed as a splash toy. An outdoor shower that we use after family adventures, (and limit to 60-second rinse offs). Hand-me-down toddler pants cut into preschooler shorts once the ankles got too tight. Vines that provide us shade so we can sit outside when the house gets hot, avoiding the need for an AC unit. And a kid enjoying his last month as a 2 year old, rehearsing the words, “I am 3” under his breath as he plays. 😭
